What is NatCon?
SVA’s National Conference is the largest annual gathering of student veterans, advocates, thought-leaders, stakeholders, and supporters in higher education in the world. Student veterans, higher education professionals, alumni, and advocates will have the opportunity to learn from more than 2,000 of their peers at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa, January 4 – 6, 2018.
Why Should You Attend NatCon2018?

NatCon 2018 will occur January 4 – 6, 2018.
The conference begins with registration the morning of Thursday, January 4 and concludes with the awards banquet and dinner on Saturday, January 6.
The J.W. Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa does not provide a shuttle service. Refer to the FAQ above for suggestions about how to get to the conference site.
Thursday: light hors d’oeuvres at the welcome reception on the SVA campus.
Friday: continental breakfast and lunch on the SVA campus, light hors d’oeuvres at the Career Fair on the SVA campus.
Saturday: continental breakfast and lunch on the SVA campus, dinner at the awards banquet.
*Please note that any room service meals will not be covered by SVA.
Yes, each NatCon attendee must have and wear the SVA issued convention badge and keep it visible at all times. SVA, its contractors, and the J.W. Marriott Hotel have the right to deny access to any anyone not wearing an SVA issued convention badge while attending conference events. Attendees may not exchange, give, trade, or sell convention badges to anyone.
There may be a $25.00 replacement charge for lost badges.
SVA trusts its members and guests to hold themselves to a high standard of morals and ethics, and to uphold these standards at all time. These standards are detailed on the NatCon 2018 conference registration website section entitled: NatCon 2018 General Policies and Code of Conduct.
Payment can be made by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express), check (payable to “Student Veterans of America”), or purchase order.
Check payments and purchase orders delay processing and must be received no later than December 11, 2017.
Include a printout of your registration payment form along with your payment and mail to: Student Veterans of America, 1012 14th Street NW, 12th Floor, Washington D.C. 20005.
Business casual and business formal attire is preferred.
Business casual typically includes slacks, skirts, and polo or long-sleeved shirts, but excludes jeans, tennis shoes, T-shirts and sweatshirts. Business formal attire typically incudes suits, sport coats and shirt and tie for men and equivalent dress for women.
Any cancellation requests must be made before December 11, 2017 as we need to confirm meals and name badge printing. Any refund requests prior to December 11, 2017 will be subject to a $25.00 cancellation fee. Cancellation requests made after December 11, 2017 will not qualify for any registration refund. Cancellation requests must be sent to email@example.com have the subject titled "NatCon18 Registration Cancellation Request" and include the registrant’s name, email address, and amount paid. No refunds will be processed after December 11, 2017. Cancellation disqualifies you from receiving attendee benefits and publications.
Prior to December 11, 2017 you may transfer your registration to another person at no cost. You can make changes to your registration record, transfer your registration to another individual, or upgrade your registration by visiting the registration website and entering your e-mail address, along with your registrant ID or confirmation number. You can find your registrant ID and confirmation number in the registration confirmation email you receive after completing the NatCon 2018 online registration form.

Remember that obtaining funding from your school to attend NatCon may have a long lead time so plan accordingly and get started as soon as possible.

SVA provides, upon request, alternative formats, auxiliary aids, and services necessary for all individuals to participate in all programs and services provided by our organization. Requests for accommodations should be made at the time of registration or submitted by December 11, 2017 by emailing Mr. Dan Standage, Director of Disability in Education.
No. All attendees are required to make their own travel arrangements to and from NatCon, and book their own hotel room.
Yes. An outside area will be designated for service animal relief. Waste bags are available at the NatCon Special Handling kiosk. The hotel reserves the right to remove animals at their discretion. This may include, but not limited to offensive behavior, such as excessive noise, aggressive behavior, begging, grazing, wandering off leash, or relieving themselves in non-designated areas. Local leash laws will be enforced. As a courtesy to others, please groom your service animal before participating in NatCon activities.
Children under the age of 18 are not allowed in the SVA Campus during exhibitor load-in, load-out, and all other hours of operation. If the registrant chooses to bring a child to any portion of conference, registration or event fees will apply. Content of conference programming may not be suitable for children.
All presenters of accepted proposals need to register, including paying registration fees for the conference, and will present as scheduled. Presenters consent to be photographed and have their photographs displayed on the SVA website. Any changes to the proposal content, title, or presenters will be made only with the approval of SVA. Failure to register or appear for your presentation constitutes a breach of professional trust and will negatively affect future submissions to SVA conferences and events.
